If you are building new or replacing an existing electric hot water system, the cost of a solar hot water system may be justifiable especially with a government grant to help out.  (We can discuss this with you as “payback” periods can range from 10 years to 30 years)  Sunflow Solar has been tested and qualifies for the grant and Radiant Heating (NZ) Ltd is a qualifying installer.

Sunflow Solar comes out of Australia…and the range carries a variety of domestic hot water cylinders and collection panels to suit different environments and household demands.  The solar hot water cylinder can be mounted on the roof but is more commonly inside the home. This is known as a “split system”.

Solar Collectors / Solar Collection Panels

There are different grades of solar collector to choose from:  standard, marine grade and then the premium grade.  We can help you select the grade to suit your location.
(Note – There is little difference in the efficiency of flat plate and evacuated tube collectors in a domestic situation.)

Hot Water Cylinders / Storage Tanks

Solar hot water cyclinderThese range in size from 180 litres to 300 litres when the cylinder is mounted on the roof or 260 litres to 420 litres for the split system.  Both have an electric back up element to avoid running out of hot water when solar collection is not enough to meet the demand for hot water.  It is also possible to use gas as a “back up”

The Sunflow Hot Water Cylinder is manufactured in the U.K. using top grade 2304 stainless steel offering high strength and resistance to stress and crevice corrosion.
The insulation on these cylinders is exceptionally good.

The cylinder will lose only 1.34kw of heat / hr per 24 hour period.
